Local opinions sought on parish arrangements in Wigginton and Hopwas.

We are supporting/working with Lichfield District Council on their review of community governance arrangements which is looking at current and future parish level provision across Lichfield District.

Lichfield District Council has launched a consultation open to all residents, businesses, community groups to share their views and we are encouraging local people to take part.

The initial consultation period for the review runs from 1 February to 25 April 2022 with input invited from residents and any other interested parties from Wigginton and Hopwas Parish and across Lichfield District.

The results of the initial consultation will used by Lichfield District Council draw up recommendations for any new or revised arrangements for community governance that will be consulted on later in the year.

Councillor Angela Lax, Cabinet Member for Regulatory, Housing and Health said:

“Having effective community governance arrangements contributes significantly to improved local democracy, greater community engagement and better local service delivery.

“Community Governance Reviews such as the one we are undertaking are carried out every 10 to 15 years. They provide an opportunity to review parishes and make changes to local arrangements where they are needed”.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in local democracy or in their local community to take a look at the details of the review and put forward their views on whether they think arrangements could be improved”.
