(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND TEMPORARY ONE WAY) ORDER 2026
WHEREAS The Staffordshire County Council (“the council”) being the highway authority for all roads
in the Borough of Tamworth that are maintainable by the council at public expense is satisfied that the
traffic on the said roads in the County of Staffordshire should be restricted by reason of works in
connection with the maintenance and repair of highway by Staffordshire County Council, being
executed or proposed to be executed therein.
NOW THEREFORE The Council in exercise of the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling
powers hereby make the following Order:-
1. Save as provided in Article 2 of this Order, no person shall cause any vehicle to proceed in
the lengths of road considered to be Highway Maintainable at Public Expense Borough of
Tamworth
2. The provisions of Article1 of this Order shall not apply to any vehicle being used for or in
connection with the said works or for vehicles being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance
purposes.
3. A temporary One Way Order (where appropriate) will be in force on the lengths of road
considered to be Highway Maintainable at Public Expense in the Borough of Tamworth
4. This Order shall come into force on any road or part of when Road Closed and/or One Way
signage as demonstrated in the Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice are
in evidence and shall remain in force until works for the maintenance and repair of highway by
Staffordshire County Council have been completed.
5. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st April 2026 and may be cited as the
Staffordshire County Council (Various Streets Tamworth, Staffordshire) (Temporary
Prohibition of Traffic and Temporary One Way) order 2026.
6. Alternative routes will be signposted on site where appropriate.
